Quinton Heck is a YouTuber based in Charleston, South Carolina. He documents real challenges with real numbers — a 7-day water fast that's been watched 1.8 million times and covered by LADbible, UNILAD, and MSN; 108 straight days of cold showers; and the build-out of QUSE Cars, his 12-vehicle rental fleet on Turo. Before YouTube went full-time, he was a U.S. Merchant Marine Academy-trained engineer who sailed tankers and helped build ships for the Navy. He still serves as an officer in the U.S. Navy Reserve.
Long Island → Massillon
Born March 29, 1999 in Long Island, New York. His family soon relocated to Massillon, Ohio, where he grew up obsessed with sports.
Three-sport athlete
At Canton Central Catholic High School he lettered twice each in football, basketball, and baseball — with local coverage in the Canton Repository.
The Merchant Marine Academy
Took his oath in the U.S. Naval Reserve and entered the United States Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, studying marine engineering. As a freshman pitcher he posted a 2.48 ERA — "making his mark," per the Canton Repository — and as a junior he helped pitch the Mariners to a Skyline Conference championship. Along the way he sailed around the world at 18 — and read the book that lit the entrepreneurial fire: Rich Dad Poor Dad.
The channel starts
February 20, 2019: Quinton started recording and posting videos to YouTube — him and his friends doing dumb stuff at the Academy. The channel was born.
Graduation, commission, and getting serious
Graduated with a B.S. in Marine Engineering, commissioned as a U.S. Navy officer, and earned an unlimited Third Assistant Engineer license. Moved to Charleston, SC. Went to work building LCS and MMSC ships for the Navy. And that November — alone in a Wisconsin office — he spent $800 on podcast equipment, bought a $4,000 laptop, and decided YouTube was no longer a hobby.
The video that changed everything
June 6, 2023: "7 Day Water Fast: Here's What Happened." It became the channel's monster — 1.8 million views and counting. That fall he sailed on the tanker M/V Garden State, joined Hornbeck Offshore as a Third Assistant Engineer — and quietly bought his first dedicated rental car, the purchase that kicked off a long Turo journey. QUSE Cars was born as a side hobby.
Upgrades — in every sense
Upped his license to Second Assistant Engineer. Returned to shipbuilding as a project engineer on the Navy's new frigates. Married Logan on June 12 in Ohio. And in December, international press arrived: LADbible, UNILAD, and MSN covered his water fast and cold shower experiments within a single week.
All in
Left maritime engineering to go full-time on YouTube and QUSE Cars. The fleet grew from 3 vehicles to 12 — including two added through an investor — all running in Charleston while the channel documents every step.
